Bay-Lakes Council Volunteers:
At Bay-Lakes Council, our volunteers and Scouts are like family. Like you, we have been focused on doing all the things we need to keep our families safe and healthy. In light of ongoing and increasing concerns regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19), Bay-Lakes Council would like to take the opportunity to speak to its impact on our local Scouting activities.
For your planned unit activities, please exercise good judgment and follow the direction of your local health officials, as each community is affected differently right now. All Scout leaders should encourage volunteers and Scouts to stay home when ill and to use this time as an opportunity to review common public health practices. Covering coughs and sneezes, disinfecting door handles and other frequently touched surfaces, and proper handwashing are all things that can help prevent illnesses.
Bay-Lakes Council will continue to refer to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, and our local public health agencies to determine the safest course of action for everyone in our Scouting family.
Our leadership team will share information via e-mail to Bay-Lakes Council members should the need arise to close or postpone any of our District, Council, or Program activities – including summer camp. Please stay-tuned to the Bay-Lakes Council website for additional announcements.
In the meantime, please encourage your Scouts to be clean, helpful, kind and brave.
If you have any questions, please contact the Center for Scouting at (920) 734-5705.
