Summer Camp Staff

Are you tired of doing the same old routine? Did you know that the Bay-Lakes Council operates 4 Scout camps. Each site offers opportunities for a variety of summer camp staff jobs. Most Scout camp staff members are at least 16 years of age, but we have some positions for youth who are a year or so younger. Senior District Executive

Location: Appleton, Wisconsin

The Senior District Executive selected will:

  • work with a volunteer Board of Directors and other community/business leaders to identify, recruit, train, guide, and inspire them to become involved in youth programs.
  • achieve progress towards specific goals and objectives which include: program development through collaborative relationships, volunteer recruitment and training, fundraising, membership recruitment, and retention.
  • be responsible for extending programs to religious, civic, fraternal, educational, and other community-based organizations through volunteers.
  • secure adequate financial support for programs in assigned area. Achieve net income and participation objectives for assigned camps and activities.
  • recruit leadership for finance campaign efforts to meet the financial needs of the organization.
  • ensure that all program sites are served through volunteers, regular leader meetings, training events, and activities.
  • collaborate with adult leaders and oversee achievement of training for their respective role.
  • be a good role model and recognize the importance of working relationships with other professionals and volunteers. This executive must have communication skills and be able to explain the program's goals and objectives to the public.
  • provide quality service through timely communication, regular meetings, training events, and activities.
  • have a willingness and ability to devote long and irregular hours to achieve Council and District objectives.
  • Desired skills:

  • Strong marketing, fundraising, and program development background.
  • Non-profit, fundraising, or sales experience.
  • Must be comfortable with public speaking and interacting with diverse audiences. Excellent people skills, enthusiastic, punctual, responsible, and creative.
  • Self-motivated individual with solid time management skills and strong organizational skills in management, budgeting, and planning.
  • Committed to personal and professional productivity, while maintaining high ethical and professional working standards.
  • Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (transcript with the date degree conferred stated is required for employment).
  • Qualifications:

  • Must be willing to accept and meet the Scouting America leadership and membership standards and subscribe to the Scout Oath and Law.
  • 21-years of age or older, unless prohibited by any applicable law.
  • Ability to work varied hours when necessary, evening activities and weekend work is frequently required to achieve positive objectives.
  • Ability to travel for training at least once a year for 1-2 weeks.
  • A Scouting background is helpful, but not required for employment.
  • Offers for employment are subject to criminal, reference, and motor vehicle background checks.

    AmeriCorps Community Corps

    AmeriCorps Community Corps - Scoutreach Program Coordinator

    The Bay-Lakes Council, Scouting America is seeking an enthusiastic Scoutreach Program Coordinator to help deliver Scouting programs to elementary and middle school-aged youth throughout our service area.

    This full-time position averages 37-40 hours per week and requires a flexible schedule that may include afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends.

    Program Coordinators travel to multiple partner locations each week. A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel are required. Mileage reimbursement is provided. Previous Scouting experience is preferred but not required—we will provide the training you need to be successful.

    The Bay-Lakes Council, Scouting America is seeking a Camping Program Associate. This is an outdoor recreation specialist reponsible for designing and operating safe, fun, and engaging team-oriented camp programs for schools, churches, scouting units, and families.

    By utilizing outdoor "Challenge-By-Choice" activities, these Rec-Ed programs directly combat the growing adolescent mental, emotional, and social health crisis.

    The Camping Program Associate will coach staff to foster a supportive, structured environment away from home stressors, creating a safe psychological harbor where our youth campers can reduce their anxiety, better regulate emotions, build resilience, and improve self-esteem.

    AmeriCorps Community Corps - Scoutreach Program Assistant

    The Bay-Lakes Council, Scouting America is seeking an enthusiastic Scoutreach Program Assistant to help deliver Scouting programs to elementary and middle school-aged youth in our Oshkosh/Omro/Winneconne service area. This part-time position averages 20-24 hours per week and requires a flexible schedule that may include afternoons, evenings, and occassional weekends.

    The Scoutreach Program Assistant supports Scoutreach Program Coordinators in delivering fun, safe, and engaging Scouting meetings for youth in the program. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children, serving their communities, and helping make a positive impact in the lives of underserved youth.

    Program Assistants work alongside the Program Coordinator and are responsible for assisting with activities, youth engagement, meeting setup and cleanup, and helping ensure successful program delivery.
