Bay-Lakes Council Membership Updates: January 25, 2022

  • On December 31, 2021, the National BSA registration database, Scoutnet, was retired after being in use for close to 30 years. January 1, 2022, was the launch of all new tools in Scouting.org.  With the sunsetting of Scoutnet, the Legacy Tools module in My.Scouting.org has also been retired.

The new tools in My.Scouting.org have changed how we can register new members, process charter renewals, complete Eagle Scout applications, register merit badge counselors, etc.  It’s a great step towards the future, but is also a work-in-progress as portions of the new program are still under development.

Our Council staff members are working diligently to learn how these new tools function and are updating our processes for completing the daily business of Scouting. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate this process.

If you have questions regarding registration or online-tools in My.Scouting.org, please send an email to:  support@baylakesbsa.org.  We have a team of employees at the Council-office monitoring and responding to messages submitted to this address.

  • Merit Badge Counselor applications are in a pending status as National BSA has not yet launched the module allowing Council’s to register this position. We will send email updates to applicants as soon as we are able to get them registered as Counselors and/or update their list of approved badges.
  • Once a unit has submitted their charter renewal, it must be reviewed by the Council and then it will be posted. Within 24-48 hours of posting, your new 2022 unit roster will be viewable in Scouting.org and Scoutbook.
  • Online Registration via Scouting.org and/or BeAScout.org will not be open until your unit’s 2022 charter renewal has been posted.
