Join us in congratulating these recent Bay-Lakes Council Eagle Scouts:

Clay Horne, Troop 332, Munising, MI, Hiawathaland District

Garrett LaMore, Troop 615, Oshkosh, WI, Twin Lakes District

Alexis Naumann, Troop 6780, West Bend, WI, Kettle Country District

Frank Carlson is a member of Troop 332, chartered by the Munising Lions Club of Munising, MI.

Frank completed his Eagle Board of Review on May 10, 2023.

In his words: “For my Eagle Scout project, I installed a flagpole at the new veteran’s memorial site in Maple Grove Cemetery. Troop 332 had volunteered at the cemetery’s memorial for 3 years providing clean-up. I always thought the memorial needed a flag to honor our veterans. I asked for and received the blessing of the local VVA. They were excited and offered support. The local community provided above and beyond the needed donations. The extra is in a fund at the VVA for flag and flagpole maintenance. I had help from my troop, my family, and a lot of support from the community members and community businesses. We were able to host a flag raising ceremony on Veterans day, it was a proud day for everyone involved. I wanted to do this because it is important to remember men and women in our community that have served for our country. The American flag helps to reflect on the history of our country and preserve patriotism for our future.”

Frank’s unit leader is Dave Horne.

His Eagle Court of Honor will be held in September 2023.

Clay Horne is a member of Troop 332, chartered by the Munising Lions Club of Munising, MI.

Clay completed his Eagle Board of Review on May 10, 2023.

In his words: “For my Eagle Scout project, I built a fence for the Community Garden in Chatham, Michigan. First, I partnered with the Alger County Conservation District and reviewed what needed to be done for the community garden. I chose to build a boundary fence and install a culvert for a parking pad. Next, I assessed what materials and finances the project already had for me to use. Finally, I designed a post and rail fence and planned a work day. My help for this project included the Superior Central School Cross Country and Track teams, Munising BSA Troop 332, Michigan State University Extension Research Farm, and The Alger County Conservation District. This fence benefits Chatham Township’s community garden plan as it protects neighboring property owners from unwanted trespass from the users of the Community Garden. It also is designed to be a boundary from the newly planted native pollinator garden.”

Clay’s unit leader is Dave Horne.

His Eagle Court of Honor was held July 15, 2023.

Garrett LaMore is a member of Troop 615, chartered by All Saints Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, WI.

Garrett completed his Eagle Board of Review on July 18, 2023.

His Eagle project, in his own words: “I lead a project to make 50 tie blankets and 50 personal hygiene kits to donate to the Day by Day Warming Shelter in Oshkosh. The project was completed in a day and a half over a weekend with 25 helpers and a total of 151.25 total hours worked. The blankets will help to provide warmth to the people in need who come to the shelter. The hygiene kits will provide guests at the shelter with hygiene essentials for their day to day lives.”

Garrett’s unit leader is Matthew Vaughan.

His Eagle Court of Honor is scheduled for December 2023.

Alexis Naumann is the first female Eagle Scout in West Bend and Washington County WI.  Alexis is a member of Troop 6780, chartered by American Legion Post #36 in West Bend. She completed her Board of Review on June 21, 2023.

For her Eagle project, along with 24 volunteers, she chose to build several items for the new playground area inside the Lac Lawrann Conservancy: two mud kitchens, a table with four stump chairs and four benches.

Articles celebrating her accomplishment can be found here and here.

She was also featured in the June 27, 2023 edition of the West Bend Daily News (online but behind a paywall.)

Alexis’ unit leader is Steven Naumann.

Her Eagle Court of Honor is scheduled for August 27.
