Join us in congratulating these recent Bay-Lakes Council Eagle Scouts:
Thomas Heyn, Troop 735, Ripon, WI, Ledge To Lakes District
Austin Pauli, Troop 12, Appleton, WI, Gathering Waters District
Andrew Williams, Troop 835, Cedarburg, WI, Kettle Country District
Thomas Heyn, a member of Troop 735, chartered by the Ripon (WI) Noon Kiwanis Club, completed his Eagle Board of Review on January 21, 2025.
His Eagle project in his words: “I led a group to build a connecting shortcut trail at the Ceresco Prairie Trail system. The trail system is behind the Ripon College’s Willmore center in Ripon Wi. To make the trail we used a brush cutter to cut out the trail. We then cut stairs into a steep hillside. (Which is shown in the big group photo picture.) While the stairs were being created another group of Scouts cut marked invasive species which were Autumn Olive and Buckthorn. We took out about 5 densely packed pickup loads out of the prairie.”
His unit leader is Michael Bair.
Thomas’s Eagle Court of Honor is scheduled for Summer 2025.
Austin Pauli is a member of Troop 12, chartered by First English Lutheran Church of Appleton, WI. He completed his Eagle Board of Review on October 17, 2024.
Austin’s Eagle project in his own words, “With the help of both adult and youth volunteers, we built a pollinator garden. It is located in the courtyard of the First United Methodist Church, Appleton. I chose this project because I wanted to help the environment and the church that I have been raised in.”
Austin’s unit leader is Matt Poelzer.
His Eagle Court of Honor is yet to be scheduled.
Andrew Williams, is a member of Troop 835, chartered by the Peter Wollner American Legion Post #288 of Cedarburg, WI.
He completed his Eagle Board of Review on November 11, 2024.
Andrew’s Eagle project in his own words, “My project was to revitalize the Small Mammal Garden and create a set of stairs for the zookeepers at the Milwaukee County Zoo. The garden was a previous Eagle Scout project meant to provide a space for zookeepers to grow enrichment items; it had fallen into disuse and needed repairs. I led a team to recreate the garden, including weeding, planting, and mulching, plus we added fencing as a new feature – so wild animals could no longer consume what the zookeepers grow for the zoo animals. For the Otter Passage outdoor exhibit, I and my team created a set of stairs to prevent the zookeepers from slipping on the rock face when passing from the ground to the top of the rock wall. These enhancements made the enrichment garden useful once again while visibly enhancing the pedestrian walkway and created a safe route for zookeepers within the outdoor otter enclosure, especially in bad weather.”
His unit leader is Scott Weber.
Andrew’s Eagle Court of Honor was held on January 5, 2025.
