Providing a safe and secure environment for our youth members is the greatest priority of the Bay-Lakes Council. We work every day to protect our children through our Youth Protection policies including mandatory youth protection training for all registered leaders, leadership selection policies and mandatory criminal background checks for new leaders.

As Scouting and the Bay-Lakes Council look to strengthen our youth protection policies, we have instituted a periodic criminal background recheck of existing leaders. In order to do this, a new Additional Disclosures & Background Check Authorization Form must be signed by every registered adult leader before their annual membership can be renewed for 2020.  Registered adult members will receive an email from the National Service Center of Boy Scouts of America with detailed instructions.

For Adult members registered with a unit, please submit your original, signed Additional Disclosures & Background Check Authorization Form to your unit for submission with the 2020 Recharter Packet.

For Adult members not registered with a unit, such as those registered as a district committee member-at-large, unit commissioner, merit badge counselor,  NOVA counselor or any other non-unit adult position, we are asking that you please submit your Additional Disclosures & Background Check Authorization Form original to:  Bay-Lakes Council, Attn: Carrie Lehner, PO Box 267, Appleton, WI 54912

If you choose to decline the background check, or if you do not complete the Additional Disclosures & Background Check Authorization Form  your 2020 annual registration will not be processed.

We are truly grateful for your continued commitment to keeping youth safe and for helping them learn, grow, and thrive through Scouting programs.
