Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST): March 13
TOMORROW, Mar. 13 – join us for Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST), a course designed to teach Scouts with leadership positions about their new roles and the organizational and leadership skills needed to most effectively reach success in their roles. The Course curriculum will be delivered virtually; we will have a two-hour session beginning at 10 AM Central and a two-hour session beginning at 1PM Central. ILST is a prerequisite for National Youth Leadership Training. Scouts can participate individually or with other Scouts from their Troop.

ote that Lakeshore and Kettle Country Districts will host ILST on April 23-24 at Camp Rokilio. 

Cub Scout Leader Orientation: March 20
This three-hour virtual training for leaders and adults, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM Central, provides a quick start to post-pandemic Cub Scouting for Dens and Packs. This includes ideas for a wide variety of proven methods for building a successful Unit program. A one-hour fireside chat with experienced leaders begins at 11:00 AM to cover any questions or open topic discussions.

An alternate training date is scheduled for April 17.

Kettle Country District SM/ASM Leader Specific Training: March 27
For all Scouts BSA leaders including Troop Committee members and unit parents. The focus is on troop operations using the patrol method. This training is commonly referred to as the “Indoor Session.” and will take place at Saukville Town Hall from 8:00 AM – 1:30 PM Central. Registration is free, but bring your own sack lunch.

Scouts BSA Leader Orientation: March 27
This virtual training will be a three-hour introduction for leaders and parents, from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM Central. The first two hours will review activities and methods for building strong Unit program. A fireside chat with experienced leaders follows.

If you are unable to attend, a similar training event will be held on April 24.

ILST is a pre-requisite for National Youth Leadership Training. Scouts can participate individually or with other Scouts from their troop.

BALOO: Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation: April 10-11 & May 15-16
Held at Camp Rokilio, this is the outdoor experience for Cub Scout leaders and parents. The 35-minute on-line pre-requisite portion can be completed here. This fun and informative course includes much outdoor learning, camping, knife safety, GPS, hiking, cooking, and more! Beyond outdoor skills we teach fun programming tips, ceremonies, and how to put on memorable campfire programs. Get a hands on learning experience about what it means to be a Cub Scout. Hiawathaland District Training: April 30-May 2
Hiawathaland District will will offer three training opportunities at Camp Hiawatha in Munising, MI:​ Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills, Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation, and Position Specific Training – Scoutmaster.  Venture Crews may send newer youth and adults to IOLS to gain some basic outdoor skills.

National Youth Leader Training: August 7-15
Registration continues for the NYLT Pack-and-Paddle course. A waitlist has begun for the traditional course, set for June 20-26. Both will be held at Camp Hiawatha.
