Trail Trekkers is comprised of 14 picturesque trails spread throughout the territory of Bay Lakes Council. The trails vary in distance and showcase different terrains and features representative of this great area we live in.
Every trail is suitable even for Cub Scouts, and are close to public road access and other amenities making them compliant with the Guide to Safe Scouting.
So how does it work? Begin by purchasing the center patch using the information provided in the “How To Order” section on page 37. Look through this booklet and choose your first hike. It can be close to home, or far enough away allowing you to make a day trip out of it. Grab your Scout Essentials, and look at where the trail leads so you know where you’re going and have a safe and fun hike. Then hit the trail. Once your hike is complete, purchase the small square patch showing your achievement. Sew it on a felt brag vest, patch blanket, or a red BSA Jac-Shirt. Encourage others to do the same.
If you’re an avid hiker and would like all of the Trail Trekkers patches at a discounted rate, the complete patch collection is available. Being in nature and hiking on a trail can achieve the aims of Scouting in so many ways.
It offers a time for quiet reflection, builds confidence, helps you figure out where you’re going by knowing where you’ve been, and helps young Scouts plan, prepare, and execute an activity. It is my hope that this program brings you and your families many moments of fun and excitement, and creates some cherished memories along the way.”
