Haydn Jones, Troop 105, Sault Ste. Marie MI, Hiawathaland District
Joshua Lange, Troop 32, Shawano, WI, Gathering Waters District
Kolby Steiger, Troop 14, Neenah WI, Gathering Waters District
Jake Duquaine is a member of Troop 14, chartered by the Congregational United Church of Christ out of Neenah, WI.
Jake successfully completed his Eagle Board of Review on May 18, 2023.
His Eagle project, in his own words:
“For my home parish of St. Margaret Mary in Neenah, I renovated the outdoor signs they use for the Christmas and Lenten seasons. I replaced old, wooden signs that were on steel posts with new, aluminum signs that are on steel pipes with threaded bases for easy installment, removal, and switching midseason. Bonus being, I aimed to preserve the original art of the parishioner that had donated them. By using photoshop to get cleaner images and having WG Inc. of Doty Island print the signs on a lightweight aluminum and with UV and scratch protection, I was able to preserve the original shapes while also bringing a new, modern look to the signs. These signs benefit both the maintenance team who have to install and remove the signs as well as the parishioners who get to walk a new and improved Stations of the Cross and Nativity Scene. This project took a lot of work on my end as it required a lot of power operated tools that I only had one of available. I did have a day that I had 7 friends, some Scouts, some not, help me dig the holes to place the bases in the ground before the first freeze as this was crunch time in mid-October.”
His unit leader is Vicki LaFountain.
A Court of Honor is yet to be scheduled.
William Gosse is a member of Troop 1477, chartered by Peace Lutheran Church out of Pulaski, WI.
William completed his Eagle Board of Review on February 14, 2023.
His Eagle project, in his own words:
“I built an elevated animal feeding station. This station consisted of three feeders that could be raised and lowered using a winch and pulley system. The reason the feeding station is eight feet in height is to prevent deer from feeding and gathering. This helps to prevent Chronic Waste Disease in the deer population.”
His unit leader is Jeffrey Gosse.
A Court of Honor was scheduled for April 30.
Haydn Jones is a member of Troop 105, chartered by the First Presbyterian Church of Sault Ste. Marie, MI.
Haydn successfully completed his Eagle Board of Review on May 23, 2023.
In his words
“For my Eagle project, I planned, designed, and built a bridge over a local creek to provide greater access to a local nature area. This both serves the community, and the organization that I did the project for, by helping that organization to further its goal to promote outdoor activities and hiking in the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan.”
His unit leader is Dave Pine.
A Court of Honor is yet to be scheduled.
Joshua Lange is a member of Troop 32, chartered by the American Legion Post #117, out of Shawano, WI.
Joshua completed his Eagle Board of Review on April 20, 2023.
In his words, for his Eagle Project:
“I built a Gaga Ball pit for my church, St. Jakobi Lutheran Church in Red River, WI. Gaga Ball is a game that can be played by people of all ages and abilities. The game is played in an above ground pit, and the walls are made of 2x10s that are 30 inches tall. The bottom of the pit is sand. The reason I chose to build it is for the older youth who go to the church have more outdoor activities to do. This game appeals to many ages because older player can use strategy and plan it out, and younger players can just join in and get the general idea of what to do. Any one is able to play and win no matter the physical skill set one might possess.”
His unit leader is Brad Bowman.
A Court of Honor is scheduled for August 5, 2023.
Kolby Steiger is a member of Troop 14, chartered by the Congregational United Church of Christ of Neenah, WI.
Kolby successfully completed his Eagle Board of Review on May 18, 2023.
The Eagle project was to revitalize the Things with Wings Garden at Mosquito Hill Nature Center, New London, WI.
In his own words:
“The Things with Wings garden is a designated Monarch Waystation at Mosquito Hill Nature Center. My project included removal of paving stones, invasive plants, thinning current native prairie plants and planting several hundred new native prairie plants that are vital to the Monarch Butterfly’s survival. The Monarch Waystation is one of the first parts of the Mosquito Hill Nature Center that you see when you leave your car and walk towards to the Welcome Center. My project enabled the garden to look much more inviting for people to wander through while simultaneously offering vital food sources and a rest area for the Monarch Butterfly.”
His unit leader is Vicki LaFountain.
A Court of Honor is expected this fall.
