National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is the premier youth leadership training course of the Boy Scouts of America. It is available to young men and women, ages 13 and above, under the guidance of specially selected and trained adult leaders. Participants must be Venturers or Scouts BSA members First Class and above and should attend Individual Leadership Skills for Troops or Crews. Participants must secure a recommendation from their unit leader. Most Scouts and Venturers who attend hold, or will hold, leadership positions in their home Troop or Crew.

Bay-Lakes Council NYLT is a week-long course conducted at Camp Hiawatha with participants living and working together in a their own campsite. The Bay-Lakes Council offers an additional NYLT Course conducted in the setting of a wilderness backpack and canoe trek, called NYLT, Pack and Paddle which takes place in the backcountry of Camp Hiawatha, and the Hiawathaland National Forest.

The level of leadership training provided by both courses for Scout age youth make these events a life changing experience for many.

Both NYLT Courses have limited positions available and fill up quickly each year. Don’t delay in registering. Those not receiving a slot will be put on a waiting list. To register, or to seek more information see below.
