Daniel Hewitt, Troop 346 of Negaunee, MI, Hiawathaland District
Daniel Hewitt is a member of Troop 346, chartered by the Negaunee Michigan Lions Club.
He completed his Eagle Board of Review on July 29, 2022.
Daniel’s Eagle Project, in his own words:
“There is a great need to fill the shelves of the local food pantries. My Eagle Project worked to help fill this need in our local community, by collecting non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army. In Michigan, you pay a returnable deposit for cans, and we collected these empty cans to return for cash to donate directly to the Salvation Army so that they would be able to purchase whatever they see needed in the community. My Scout troop, my friends, and my church group all helped with the distribution of collection bags and fliers in my neighborhood, then another week we collected food items and returnables, then turned in all the cans for a cash donation to the Salvation Army. In total we collected 450 pounds of food and were able to donate $612 to them.”
His unit leader at the time was William Tireman. The current Scoutmaster is George Larsen.
