Monday, June 8 – Monday, June 15 — #building #helpfulprojects #tools #lifeskills

Whether Scouting occurs outdoors or indoors, #helpfulprojects are always involved that enable our Scouts to learn leadership and #lifeskills. Let’s focus this week on #building a model of success.

Make sure you take some photos or videos of your activities and share them via Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram and include #ScoutingAtHome   @BayLakesCouncil @Bay-Lakes Council Scouting @ Home Collaboration

Here are some great ideas that include some ADVANCEMENT opportunities to do with your family!

Lions – “Build It Up, Knock it Down” – Discuss what things can be built and how they can be knocked down… think of buildings or adventures. Discuss how you as a Scout build someone else up and knocked down not just physically but emotionally as well. Build a structure of your own design with available materials.

Tigers — “Earning Your Stripes” – With your family, find five orange items. Discuss politeness with your family and do a task that will help them. Demonstrate and discuss loyalty.

Wolfs — “Air of the Wolf” – Let’s get outside! Make and fly a kite. Create and participate in a wind powered race.

Bears — “Baloo the Builder” – Let’s get dirty and handy! Use four hand tools to make a project. Build a useful and a fun project that a scout might enjoy and apply a finish to one of the projects that should be made from wood.

Webelos & Arrow of Light — “Build It” – The structure of an object and tools to create are very important. Learn about basic tools and safety. Build a carpentry project and create a list of tools and materials needed to do.

Scouts BSA Youth & Venturers – Hands on repairs and creativity is key to build a well-rounded scouting experience and building blocks for the future. Learn more by starting your Home Repairs, Wood Carving or Woodwork Merit Badge. Make sure you ask your Scoutmaster for permission and suggestions for merit badge counselors.
