It is that time of year to start reflecting on all the efforts of volunteers across the council and districts as we prepare to select the 2020 Silver Beaver Class to be recognized in 2021. Think about long tenured leaders, OA Chapter Advisors, Event/Activity Chairs, current/past District Committee Members, current/past District Commissioner Team members, etc.

The prestigious Silver Beaver Award was established in 1931 and is presented by the National Boy Scouts of America, to council, district, or unit volunteers for distinguished service to youth. This is the highest national award a local council can bestow upon a volunteer.

Recipients of this award are registered adult leaders who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service to the council. The Silver Beaver award is an award given to those who implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self-sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service. Anyone may nominate any deserving registered Scouter and submit a nomination to the council.

The nomination form, along with any supporting material should be emailed to Laura.Martin@Scouting.org , mailed to the Center for Scouting, or hand delivered through staff or volunteers to the council office. If mailed or hand delivered please do so in an envelope identified as “Silver Beaver Nomination”.

All nominations must be received no later than February 21, 2021 in order to be accepted. Nominations without all foundational information being included will not be accepted and will be immediately returned to the nominator without delay for further documentation.

Please email Kenny Bergschultz  or Mike Alberts should you have any questions or contact us at the Center for Scouting at 920-734-5705.
